Updates from Site - August 2025

August has been a busy month across our live projects, with each site moving forward in exciting ways. From the careful detailing of interiors at the Vipassana Meditation Centre, to major structural progress at the NMITE Centre for Innovation and Future Skills, and rapid transformation on the ground at Belmont Wanderers’ Southside site, the variety of work underway reflects the breadth of projects we’re proud to be part of.

Regular site visits continue to play a crucial role, allowing us to collaborate closely with contractors, check quality, and see our designs come to life step by step. Take a closer look at what’s been happening on each site this month below...

NMITE Centre for Innovation and Future Skills

Inside the existing building, all internal partitions have now been installed, giving us the first real sense of the scale, proportions, and character of the new spaces. It’s exciting to see how the design is taking shape. The rooms benefit from generous levels of natural light and have a clear sense of connection and flow between them, just as we’d envisioned in the early design stages.

Outside, preparations for the new extension are moving forward. The steel reinforcement (rebar) has been installed in readiness for the concrete raft slab to be poured. The duct route for the Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) system is now clearly visible as a continuous recessed channel running around the perimeter of the slab. This will house the supply ductwork that delivers fresh, filtered air to the new spaces via discreet floor-level grilles, an important detail for ensuring comfort, energy efficiency, and indoor air quality.

Vipassana Meditation Centre

The accommodation block at the Vipassana Meditation Centre is moving into its final stages of fit-out. The majority of carpentry is now complete, including detailed elements such as architraves, skirtings, and window cills, which add refinement to the interiors. A final air test took place this week, carried out by Gervase from Waxwing Energy, an important step in confirming the building’s airtightness and performance, and we’re looking forward to sharing the results when they come in.

Internally, painting is nearly complete throughout, bringing a sense of calm and brightness to the spaces, while flooring installation is progressing well. A combination of tile, engineered oak, and Altro vinyl (used in the accessible rooms) has been carefully selected to balance durability, comfort, and accessibility.

Externally, groundworks have begun this week for the installation of paths, steps, and the footings for a future canopy, which will improve circulation and accessibility across the site. Together, these finishing touches are helping the project come to life, ready to welcome future visitors.

Belmont Wanderers – Southside

Meanwhile, at the Belmont Wanderers site, the perimeter fencing and floodlights have been installed, shaping the new pitch and giving a real sense of the facility’s scale and future potential. These elements mark an exciting step forward in delivering a high-quality, year-round playing environment for the grassroots club and wider community.

With projects at such different stages, it’s inspiring to see each one steadily progressing towards completion. We’ll be sharing more updates next month as these builds move closer to handover. In the meantime, keep an eye on our social channels for behind-the-scenes glimpses of these and other projects in progress.
