Old Pasture, Ledbury
This project replaces a dilapidated lean-to glasshouse on the side of the existing home with a contemporary garden room extension that maximises the site’s exceptional setting. Overlooking far-reaching views across Ledbury to the hills beyond, and benefiting from a south-facing aspect, the design unlocks opportunities that were previously underutilised within the main house.
The new extension creates a light-filled, high-performance living space that can be enjoyed throughout the day, strengthening the clients’ connection to both their garden and the wider landscape. Large three-panel sliding doors open directly onto a south-facing terrace, while carefully framed views to the south and west draw the surrounding scenery into the interior. Generous glazing ensures the room remains warm, comfortable, and naturally bright year-round.
Externally, the building is clad in timber shingles and topped with a standing seam zinc roof, paired with high-performance windows and doors to achieve both durability and energy efficiency. The overall form references the existing rooflines and material palette, allowing the extension to sit comfortably within its context while providing a distinctive yet complementary addition to the home.
