Updates from Site - November 2025
As 2025 draws to a close, our ongoing projects are making significant progress. Some are close to completion, while others are advancing smoothly through their next stages of construction. It’s been a rewarding year of collaboration and creativity, and we’re proud to see these designs becoming real, meaningful places that will soon be in use by the communities they were created for.
This month, we’re sharing the final updates of the year from the Vipassana Meditation Centre and the NMITE Centre for Innovation and Future Skills.
Vipassana Meditation Centre
The project at the Vipassana Meditation Centre is now entering its final stages, with finishing touches being applied to each of the bedrooms ahead of handover to the client at the end of December.
Externally, paving slabs are being laid to complete the paths surrounding the building, and threshold drains have been installed adjacent to the level-access doors, ensuring smooth movement between internal and external spaces while managing rainwater effectively.
The new accommodation building sits beautifully within its setting, stepping down the sloping site in a way that feels natural and grounded. Its form and material palette echo the existing buildings on site, reinforcing a quiet architectural dialogue that reflects the ethos of the meditation centre — calm, simplicity, and harmony with the landscape.
NMITE Centre for Innovation and Future Skills
It’s been a busy few weeks at NMITE’s Blackfriars Campus, where work continues to bring CIFS closer to completion. Internally, the Propassiv Smartply airtightness boards are being installed, a crucial element in achieving the project’s energy performance goals. Externally, rainwater hoppers have been mocked up in preparation for the roof finishes to be applied.
The detailing of the rainwater system has been carefully considered: the downpipes are designed to sit neatly within recesses in the cladding zone, keeping them flush with both the façade and the verge line above. At each junction between gables, a small area of flat roof forms a hopper, directing water efficiently to the outlets below.
The recent spell of heavy rain has been a reminder of the importance of designing for resilience, these oversized rainwater outlets have been specified to handle increasingly intense storm events, ensuring the building performs reliably in a changing climate.
Looking Ahead
With the Vipassana accommodation ready to welcome its first meditators and NMITE’s Skills Hub continuing to take shape, we’re excited to see how 2026 unfolds as these spaces begin to fulfil their purpose.
We’ll return in the new year with more updates from site, until then, thank you for following along with projects this year.
