Updates from Site - NMITE Centre for Innovation and Future Skills

Following the Christmas break, progress on the roof has been slowed by persistent wet weather (a familiar challenge for winter construction!). Despite this, key elements have continued to move forward. The roof battens are now fully installed, and the timber fascias and bespoke rainwater hoppers have been constructed, helping to refine the building’s external character.

While the rain has limited external works, the site team have made excellent use of the time internally. The triple-glazed Ideal Combi windows are now being installed, bringing light, warmth, and clarity to the emerging spaces. Alongside this, the MVHR ductwork is being carefully fitted within the service voids, ensuring that fresh, filtered air will be distributed efficiently throughout the building once operational.

Another significant milestone has been the arrival of the Warmcell insulation on site. This will shortly be pumped into the twin-stud wall panels, completing the building’s high-performance fabric and supporting its low-energy ambitions.

With the weather hopefully set to improve, the team are preparing to push ahead with the roof finishes in the coming weeks.
